WE BELIEVE IN YOU AND YOUR MINISTRY!

Most church consultants try to sell small churches a 'mini' version of a mega-church growth plan, but that usually just leads to burnout. I founded Mission Renew because I’m a small church pastor who believes our size is a strength, not a weakness. I provide coaching and revitalization consulting that actually fits the small church context, helping pastors and churches find sustainable ways to lead and see their congregations thrive without feeling like they have to become something they’re not.

WAYS WE CAN HELP

Revitalization Strategy

Many churches find themselves stuck, plateaued, or in decline, but I firmly believe that doesn't mean God is finished with your story. When momentum feels out of reach despite your best efforts, it is easy to grow weary—I’ve been in those trenches, and I know that weight. That’s why I’ll partner with you to develop a clear, strategic plan for health and revitalization that actually fits your specific context. Just as an athlete hires a coach to work smarter and see the whole field, I provide the personalized support you need to overcome obstacles and lead with renewed confidence. The road to renewal isn’t easy, but you don't have to walk it alone; let me help shoulder the load and move your ministry forward.

Sermon Coaching

If you want your messages to resonate more deeply each week, I offer personalized coaching to help you sharpen your delivery, connect with your specific context, and grow in confidence as a communicator of the Word. Together, we’ll identify key areas for immediate improvement and work to maximize impact and listener engagement, ensuring your sermons don’t just inform your congregation, but truly inspire them.

Ministry Coaching

If an athlete wants to get better, they hire a coach. They don't just work harder; they work smarter with someone who can see the whole field.

I believe ministry deserves that same level of intentionality. Coaching delivers results because it’s designed to help you actually reach the goals you’ve set for yourself and your church. Through regular coaching we sharpen your leadership skills, and lead with a renewed sense of confidence. Whether it’s navigating a difficult board meeting or working through tough pastoral conversations—I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Leadership Training

Great leadership happens when teams lead from their strengths—together. I partner with leadership teams of all sizes to identify spiritual gifts, address areas of growth, and cultivate a culture of trust and collaboration. Through honest assessment and practical training, I’ll help your team move past silos and lead with greater clarity, unity, and purpose. I believe that when a leadership team is healthy and aligned, that health flows down into every square inch of the congregation.

Website & Social Media

Your digital front door is often the first impression people have of your ministry—I’m here to make sure it’s a good one. Too often, a confusing or outdated website becomes the back door instead, quietly turning people away before they even step into your building. I’ll work with you to improve your current site, explore fresh design ideas, or build a custom website from the ground up that actually reflects who you are. Beyond just the visuals, I’ll help you develop a clear digital strategy that aligns with your mission and ensures your online presence strengthens, rather than hinders, your ministry.

Church Transitions

In the world of endurance sports, the transition is where the race can be won or lost—and the same is true for the local church. Whether you’re navigating a pastoral transition, filling a key staff role, or creating an entirely new position, seasons of change are demanding, but they are also full of opportunity. I help churches move confidently into their next chapter—not by prescribing generic answers from a "big-box" playbook, but by walking with you. Together, we will clarify your mission, refine your vision, and lay a strong, sustainable foundation for wherever God is leading your congregation next.

Thriving churches have the Great Commission as the centerpiece of their vision, while dying churches have forgotten the clear command of Christ.

Meet Jacob

I am a pastor, coach, husband, and father who believes deeply that the best ministry is done shoulder-to-shoulder, not top-down. With over a decade of ministry experience ranging from youth ministry and guiding churches through pastoral transitions to leading two small churches through their own renewal processes, I bring a thoughtful, relational approach to leadership. I’m convinced that a local church’s greatest strength isn't its size, but its ability to embrace God’s unique call within its specific community.

Educationally, I hold a Master of Divinity and am currently pursuing my Doctor of Ministry, focusing specifically on church revitalization and community engagement. But my perspective is shaped just as much by my life outside the office. I am a foster and adoptive father of three, Football coach, and an Ironman; these experiences reinforce my belief that growth and renewal require persistence, heart, and presence.

Even with my love for the local church, coaching football at our area high school, and training for triathlons, my family always comes first. My wife and I have three kids and two dogs, and we are always planning our next adventure. As someone who was adopted myself, foster care and adoption are close to my heart and are a core part of our family’s calling. I don't just want to see your church grow; I want to see it flourish as a healthy, rooted family.

Start The Conversation

Drop us a message, and we will set up a free introductory meeting to determine if we can help you reach your goals.

One of the biggest hurdles for small churches is that most consulting firms price themselves for "the big guys." You shouldn’t have to choose between getting professional guidance and paying your utility bill.

At Mission Renew, I believe every congregation deserves access to high-quality revitalization coaching, regardless of their budget size. Because I operate as a fellow small church pastor, not a large corporate firm, I keep my overhead low and my pricing transparent. This is not a full time job for me. As I still serve in full time ministry, I want to assist other churches in their vision for renewal.

My commitment to you:

  • Context-Based Pricing: Fees designed to fit the reality of small-church budgets.

  • Investment, Not Expense: My goal is to help you steward your resources better, not drain them.

  • No Hidden Costs: You’ll know exactly what you’re paying upfront, with no surprises.

Revitalization shouldn't be a luxury. Let’s find a way to work together that respects your church’s financial faithfulness.

More about us!

  • I focus on small churches because I believe they are the backbone of the Kingdom, not "broken" versions of large churches. Having served in small-church contexts for over a decade, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible intimacy, agility, and community impact a small congregation can have. You don’t need a thousand members to have a vibrant mission; you just need a clear sense of God’s calling for your specific neighborhood.

  • The biggest difference is perspective. Most large firms offer "scalable" models—strategies designed for big budgets and large staffs that they try to shrink down for you. I don’t do "hand-me-down" consulting. I am a fellow small-church pastor currently in the trenches. I understand that you don’t have a 20-person staff to hand off projects to. My approach is peer-to-peer, focusing on sustainable, practical steps that fit your actual reality.

  • My approach is deeply relational and shoulder-to-shoulder. I don’t come in with a pre-packaged 10-step plan to "fix" your church. Instead, I listen. We look at your church’s unique history, the needs of your local community, and where God is already moving. We focus on "renewal from within"—strengthening your core identity and developing healthy leadership rhythms that prevent burnout while sparking new life.

  • It takes two things: a "holy discontent" with the status quo and a willingness to be courageous. Renewal isn't about changing your theology; it’s about changing your posture toward the community. It requires a leadership team that is willing to look honestly at their context and a congregation that values the mission more than their personal preferences. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, which is why I focus so much on endurance and steady, faithful growth.

  • Absolutely. In fact, affordability is one of the pillars of Mission Renew. I’ve sat at the board tables where we had to decide between a repair and a ministry initiative. I keep my overhead low specifically so I can offer context-based pricing that honors your stewardship. We will find a way to work together that respects your financial reality without compromising the quality of the coaching you receive.

  • The principles of renewal and community engagement are universal. If your church is centered on the Gospel and has a desire to engage your community more faithfully, I would love to walk alongside you. My focus is on the context of the small church, regardless of the sign out front. We work with all denominations.
